SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WNCN) – Southern Pines police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the suspicious death of his stepfather Saturday night, the Aberdeen Times reported.RELATED: Officials investigate suspicious death in Southern Pines

Police responded to a home located at 1165 West Indiana Ave. around 8:30 p.m. Saturday and found a man now identified as Kenneth Wall, 57, dead inside under what they called “suspicious circumstances.”

Wall lived at the home where he was found dead.

On Sunday morning, Southern Pines police arrested Ronnell Dewand Kelly, 35, also of 1165 West Indiana Ave., on the charge of second-degree murder in connection with Wall’s death, the newspaper reported.

Police said Wall had died after apparently being assaulted.

Kelly was taken to the Moore County Detention Center where he is being held under a $750,000 secured bond.

His first court appearance is set for Sept. 27.
