Detectives have arrested and charged Anthony Darius Neal, 25, of Raleigh, with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill relates to a second person in the minivan, Kedrick Daquane Thomas, 24, who was in the minivan but wasn’t hit by gunfire.

One witness, Tiffany Johnson, told CBS North Carolina that she heard as many as nine gunshots Friday morning.

“It was a lot of them rapidly like ‘pow, pow, pow,'” she said. “When I did look out the window that’s when I was hearing, ‘He’s shot, he’s shot.’ From what I saw, his head was slumped.”

According to a 911 call released by Raleigh police, the caller frantically told the dispatcher that someone had been shot.

“911! Somebody’s been shot. I’m off Poole Road at Walnut Woods Apartments. It looks like he’s dead! Oh my god! Somebody’s been shot! Oh my god!” the female caller said.

The woman then told the dispatcher that Malloy “was shot in the head” and that “he is breathing. He’s still breathing.”

The caller told the 911 dispatcher that Malloy was “bleeding bad in the head; he still has a pulse though.”

Police could then be heard in the background arriving on scene.

Police did not release Malloy’s condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
