Larry Donnell Miller, 41, of 209 Dillard St., has been charged with felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, and misdemeanor failure to give aid to person injured. He was also cited for failure to maintain lane control, as well as a stop sign violation.

Goldsboro police responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian just after 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the area of SR-1591 near America’s Best Value Inn, located at 701 U.S. Highway 70 east, police said. Upon arrival, officers and EMS workers found that Windom Levi Elliott, 39, of Show Low, Arizona, had been hit by a vehicle while walking along the edge of the service road.

Elliott was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle that hit him fled the scene before authorities arrived on scene. The victim and Miller’s vehicle were both traveling east on the road when the crash occurred.

Miller was driving a dark blue, 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck and hit Elliott with the right front side of the truck, police said.

Miller was arrested Wednesday. He is being held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
