The robbery occurred just after noon at the First Citizens Bank located at 53 Chatham Downs Drive when a person wearing a blonde wig entered the bank and demanded money from the teller.
Authorities originally said they didn’t know whether the robber was a male or female. The suspect has been identified as Rebecca Amy Stasko, 28, of Moncure. She has been charged with one felony count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, officials said.
No one was physically harmed during the robbery and surveillance footage is what led sheriff’s office investigators to Stasko.
She is being held under an $80,000 secured bond. She’s scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court on Nov. 14.
