ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) – A teen has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a shooting and crash in Roanoke Rapids on Nov. 12, police said.RELATED: Roanoke Rapids gunshot victim crashes vehicle, later dies at hospital

Keon Montreal Manning, 19, of Gaston, was taken into custody Wednesday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m. in Roanoke Rapids. He has been charged with murder in connection with the Nov. 12 shooting.CLICK TO VIEW MUGSHOTS FROM ACROSS NC

The incident was reported at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Monroe Street and Preston Street, Roanoke Rapids Police Chief C.T. Hasty Jr. said in an email.

According to police, the victim drove a couple of blocks before crashing and later dying at a hospital.

“[The] initial investigation indicates that the victim was shot in the 100 block of Monroe Street and fled the area in a vehicle,” Hasty said.

The gunshot victim then crashed into a parked vehicle about two blocks away at the intersection of Monroe and Preston streets.

Police were dispatched to the crash scene and found the victim with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital by Halifax County EMS, but later died at the hospital.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Manning is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court December 21.
