GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The puppies stolen from a Greenville pet adoption event in October have been safely returned.RELATED: 2 puppies stolen from NC pet adoption event

That’s according to the adoption organization, Adoptable Companions.

A volunteer with the organization posted an update on Facebook late Thursday evening, adding both puppies are safe and in good health. She contacted WNCT Friday morning and noted the incident appeared to be a miscommunication.

The adoption agency does not want to press charges against the suspect, who was accused of stealing them, so Greenville police say the case is closed.

The puppies were up for adoption last month outside PetSmart when they were stolen.
