WAVY has learned the robbery suspect, who police have identified as Arthur Kharenduzuck, has also been charged with murder in connection to the death of his 1-year-old son.

At 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, police arrested Kharenduzuck after he allegedly robbed a Wells Fargo bank in Petersburg. Authorities had set up a perimeter outside. As Kharenduzuck walked out, he tried to run.

“It wasn’t too much of a chase,” acting Petersburg Police Chief Willaim Rohde told WAVY sister station WRIC.

Police found out Kharenduzuck was at the Wells Fargo after receiving a report about a suspicious person in the bank.

Newport News police said they will release more details about Kharenduzuck’s murder charge Wednesday.
